Maurits van Tulder appointed new interim dean at the Faculty of Behavioural and Human Movement Sciences

With effect from 1 June 2019, the Executive Board has appointed VU Amsterdam Professor Maurits van Tulder as interim dean at the Faculty of Behavioural and Human Movement Sciences (Faculteit der Gedrags- en Bewegingswetenschappen, FGB). The appointment is for a period of two years.

Van Tulder has headed the Health Sciences department at the Faculty of Sciences since 2013. He will remain affiliated with the Health Sciences department for one day a week alongside his role as interim dean. Van Tulder: 'FGB is a wonderful faculty that hosts many good academics and a range of talents. It carries out excellent research and provides education on subjects that are highly relevant to society. The faculty really makes a difference! It is an honour and a great challenge to start work at the FGB.'

On this path, connection and interdisciplinary cooperation take centre stage in an environment filled with opportunities. Maurits is a renowned academic who builds bridges between disciplines in his own work. He is at home in both behavioural and human movement sciences, the domains where the FGB is active.'

VU Professor Peter Beek to retire from his position as dean
Maurits van Tulder will replace VU Amsterdam Professor Peter Beek, who has served as dean for the past twelve years; first as dean of the former Faculty of Human Movement Sciences and then as dean of the FGB since 2015. Peter Beek will resume his academic function after 1 June.
