Within the Physiology research group we aim to expand our knowledge on neuromuscular plasticity and trainability. We use this knowledge to develop better interventions for improving or maintaining whole body performance in healthy individuals and sportsmen, as well as in vulnerable people as in rehabilitation from injuries, diseases and (neuromuscular) disorders and elderly.

In order to achieve these goals we integrate research results from experiments at different levels: the molecular/cellular level, at isolated and in situ (animal) muscle preparations and whole body human experiments in the laboratory and the field (i.e. rehabilitation centers, sports facilities).
